Who knows where this nickname came from but boy has it stuck. There are many different versions; buggie, buggie-boo, and when she is acting up is quickly turns to butt-as in she is such a butt. There are many different things we love and have favorite daily moments with the bug. To start off, the morning greet...see below.

These two little eyes greet us each morning and after each nap...does it get better? Let's continue. She is also quite the water skeeter. She has loved water since she was born and excels in her parent-tot swim class...yes this is coming from her VERY biased mother's perspective.

Last, but not least, she is a daddy's bug. Each day when James gets home she instantly smiles. They enjoy a good twenty minute laughing fest before I get a word in with how his day went. They are a dynamic duo...my little family.

Everyone is getting older

There goes another year. I have a feeling time just gets faster and faster as life goes on. Another birthday/Valentines Day has come and gone...bring on the big 26! Yes, that rounds up to thirty. For my birthday my sweet husband game me clip for my road bike. Since it practically feels like Spring outside we went for a bike ride to try out the new gear, including the chariot for Madison. Let's just say there is nothing better than getting out with our newly established family and watching the bug slowly drift to sleep on the ride. So far, no wipe-outs with the clip-ins! But, if you know me well, I will likely experience one. Thank you everyone for making my birthday such a great day! I have such amazing friends and family.

Madison is growing up so fast. Almost 6 months old! Each day brings new surprises. She can sit independently and loves squash. When she gets the squash she rocks back and forth, almost knocking herself over. I do all I can to prevent her jetting forward into the spoon. I am excited for spring when we can spend her waking hours outside! For all you moms out there, what are some of your favorite things to do with your kids in the summer. I have been thinking about buying a seasons pass to the Z00? Discovery Gateway?

This Sunday is the season premiere of AMAZING RACE! For those who don't follow you should! I told James for my birthday I wanted him to try out with Bradford in Oregon to be on the race (I decided 6 weeks was too long to be away from the bug or I would be going with or without James)...it still isn't to late! Wink Wink! My favs are the cowboys, but clearly Blake stakes claim to them. Not sure who I am going for yet...globetrotters perhaps? Get ready, this could get ugly!

Firsties

One of the most amazing joys of having a baby is watching them interact with the world and make new discoveries every day. This past week was one of first times. Madison did her first continual belly laughing..melt my heart. She also discovered her tongue and her toes which now occupies most of her wakeful hours. She has also improved on her hand-eye coordination by reaching toward objects, including my face, and bringing them to her mouth of course!

A couple weeks ago I watched a National Geographic special on the population problem in China and its effects on girls. I watched, tearfully, as these little girls are abandoned because the families wanted a boy as their only child. I am so grateful that I live in a country where girls and women are cherished equally to boys and where I can choose how many children I want to have and not be forced to only one. It is an interesting world we live in and as I kiss my husband every day he heads to work I count my blessings of my family, neighbors, friends and baby. A late thanks during this time of year for everyone in my life.

The turning of a page

Let's face it. Blogging is not my specialty. I don't have cute, creatively planned backgrounds and it has been over a year since my last post. As my life moves and seasons change I am turning many pages in my book I call "life". Pages that have been turned recently: I am a mom, I am home all the time, I am changing hospital units, and I am making a post onto my blog! I have changed the family blog to fit my new life. Simple. Lets not make things more crazy than they need to be (hence the default background blogger creates for me). I have also chosen the background of books because I finally have time in my life to read at my hearts content. The books are also a representation of the soul searching I am doing to redefine myself, because lets face it my world if completely different. So, I have turned to books for education in my new hobbies..yoga..opening a book store (I need to be well-read..and who knows what else. Being a mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me. My baby is my world and I love her more than I ever could have imagined. I find when she is awake I cannot take myself away from her and await every little smirk, coo, or smile she has to offer. I don't want to miss a beat. So, with the turning of a blog page I make no promises to post frequently, only when the time allow...I will not be taken away from my bug. With that introduction I present the new/somewhat improved blog, and lets face it we are just happy to see Italy is not the last post from June 2009. Here is a pic of the girl for all the grandmas out there.
